This is another pattern that I designed that you can use in a variety of ways. The classic ornament shapes can be cut of thin or thick wood, depending on how you want to use your pattern. You can use thinner wood for things like ornaments, magnets or gift tags and thicker wood if you intend to use the pieces strung together as a garland for a doorway or a fireplace mantle. It is a great way to use stray pieces and scraps that you have left over in your shop.

I also included two alphabets with this pattern. One you could cut right into the wood. The other is used for cutting thin overlay pieces that can go in the center of each ornament.

While my samples spell the words “Joy”, “Peace” and “Noel”, you can mix and match the ornaments to make any phrase you wish, such as “Happy Holidays”, “Merry Christmas” or “The Smiths”. (Wouldn’t that look nice in a large wreath at your entry way?)

I also gave the option of cutting a beveled circle in each ornament. I liked the extra dimension that the bevel cut offers. It reminds me of the old time ornaments that were on my grandmother’s tree that had similar circular depressions.

Have fun and enjoy yourself creating your own heirloom pieces that will be cherished for years to come!
