With this pattern you have the option to make these as simple flat ornaments, or in two layers as shown in the first sample photo. I designed them with the intention of them being made with two layers so that they look like cookies.
The flat version has thicker outer lines and some extra support but will still be rather delicate. I suggest you use 3/16″ to 1/4″ wood for this version. If you make the two layered version, 1/8″ wood is plenty strong and it also gives you the opportunity to easily add color or contrasting wood.
