This is the first of two sets of common North-American songbirds. If you look closely, you can spot some of these birds in your neighborhood. You can choose to make these with or without the attached name plates. If you prefer them without the names, you’ll be left with a simple oval frame. The backer, of course, is also optional, so if you don’t want to use one you can add the small hanging hoop (as shown in the second sample photo) in order to hang them with a nail or string.
Although these designs are quite quick to cut, the lettering and some of the details are a bit challenging but should you choose to avoid the lettering and/or enlarge the pattern to a full-sized plaque, the project could be cut even by a relative novice on the scroll saw.
This pattern includes a Baltimore oriole, blue jay, American goldfinch, chickadee, brown thrasher and a cardinal.
